Atif Qadir builds real estate and technology ventures that shape cities and deliver capital, product, and policy solutions. He is the founder of Amanat Properties, a private equity–backed redevelopment firm focused on workforce housing, and Commonplace, a proptech platform transforming how developers access and deploy incentives. At these ventures, he has led product strategy, capital raises, hiring, and partnerships, closing millions in venture and private equity and delivering returns that exceed market benchmarks.
Earlier in his career, Atif developed over $1 billion in residential, hospitality, and institutional real estate at firms including Extell, Turner Construction, and Gene Kaufman Architect, where he became an expert in entitlements, budgeting, capital structuring, and public-private negotiations.
He currently serves as a Planning Commissioner in Hoboken and sits on the Advisory Board at Provident Bank (NYSE: PFS). He is also the creator and host of the American Building Podcast, where he interviews developers, designers, and policymakers shaping the built world. His recent work connects real estate and data science, including building a machine learning model that predicts optimal data center locations and measures their impact on local energy markets.
Atif holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia University, dual SB degrees in Architecture and Urban Studies & Planning from MIT, and is a licensed architect and LEED Accredited Professional. He focuses on building cities that are smarter, fairer, and better for the future.
